DESCRIPTION Designed in 1911 for the industrialist Dr. Hugo Koller family's country house in Oberwaltersdorf, Austria. Originally an old water mill which had been converted into a factory, its new reincarnation as a house proved to be a particularly elegant adaptation. Dr. Koller and his wife, Broncia, a painter friendly with Klimt proved to be congenial clients. While most of the furniture used in the spaces was existing Biedermeier, a few pieces were designed for the Kollers including this chair which has since become the iconographic signiature Hoffman piece. |
