DESCRIPTION
Designed in 1911 for the industrialist Dr. Hugo Koller family's country house in Oberwaltersdorf, Austria. Originally an old water mill which had been converted into a factory, its new reincarnation as a house proved to be a particularly elegant adaptation. Dr. Koller and his wife, Broncia, a painter friendly with Klimt proved to be congenial clients. While most of the furniture used in the spaces was existing Biedermeier, a few pieces were designed for the Kollers including this chair which has since become the iconographic signiature Hoffman piece.

CONSTRUCTION
The frame is hardwood covered with webbing for spring. It is upholstered in black mohair. The piped welting is black and white.

CONDITION
This is a showroom sample in excellent condition.
