DESCRIPTION
What makes this chair interesting is that it is an effort to lighten up a traditional heavy cubic salon chair by opening up the arm a little. Very carefully detailed and proportioned, the side of the chair is divided into a square with half being the side support, a quarter the seat, and a quarter the open arm. The buttons, and the wood legs derive from the earlier designs for the Palais Stoclet designed in 1905 in Brussels.

CONSTRUCTION
This is a classic piece of upholstered furniture. The frame is solid beech stained ebony. Rubber webbing is stretched between the hardwood frame and then covered in foam. The edges are piped. Additional details are the grey brushed leather button details that border the open space at the seat under the arm. The legs are ebonized wood with brass tips.
